I’ll be straight: Bandera isn’t the most complete day out here — Fredericksburg and Gruene are bigger. But nothing else scratches the cowboy itch like this. If you came to Texas for honky-tonks, two-stepping, and a real western town that isn’t putting on a show, this is your day. If you came for wine or water, it isn’t — go there instead and save Bandera for the night you want boots on.
