Fiesta San Antonio celebration

March · April · May

Spring — the best time to visit.

Fiesta San Antonio · late April

10 days. Book hotels 3–6 months out — everything fills. NIOSA at La Villita is the must-attend event. Battle of Flowers and Fiesta Flambeau parades are free to watch from the street. Over 100 events across the city.

Hill Country spring wildflowers bluebonnets

Spring is the most event-dense season I've got. Perfect weather in March and April, wildflowers out in the Hill Country, and Fiesta as the marquee event of the year. If you can only visit once, make it spring.

June · July · August

Summer — heat-smart SA.

Heat advisory · 95–105°F June–September

Plan outdoor stuff before noon or after 5pm. Always carry water. Build in one indoor break per day — I mean it.

Summer's peak season for SeaWorld, resort pools, and air-conditioned museums. August is the quietest and cheapest month — best hotel deals, fewest crowds, easiest reservations of the year.

Jazz SAlive festival Travis Park San Antonio

September · October · November

Fall — the second-best window.

October is the best weather month I get — 70–80°F, low humidity. Jazz'SAlive at Civic Park in late September, Luminaria in the fall, Día de los Muertos celebrations, and River Walk Holiday Lights starting in November. Spurs regular season also tips off in October.

September

Jazz'SAlive

Free outdoor jazz festival at Civic Park, Hemisfair (late September).

November

Luminaria Arts Night

Free, one night only. 2026: Nov 14, Downtown West / San Pedro Creek — immersive outdoor arts.

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo

December · January · February

Winter — River Walk lights.

December brings the River Walk Holiday Lights and Las Posadas — the candlelit procession Dec 8–16 that's one of the most beautiful traditions I know here. January's quiet, with the best hotel rates of the year. February kicks off Stock Show & Rodeo season.
