Alamo Heights

Old money SA, and the restaurants that never needed hype.

The quiet, leafy neighborhood north of downtown where SA’s old-guard families eat. Neighborhood restaurants that have been good for 30 years and will be good for 30 more.

Stay here if you want a quiet, grown-up home base with excellent neighborhood restaurants and don't mind driving or riding into downtown for the River Walk or nightlife. Good for couples, family visits, and long dinners rather than bar-hopping. Look elsewhere if you want to walk to River Walk attractions or want late-night energy right outside your door.

Old guard SA

What Alamo Heights is.

Alamo Heights is an independent municipality surrounded by San Antonio — its own zip code, its own vibe. Old limestone homes, tree-lined streets, and a dining scene that never needed Instagram. The restaurants here earned their reputation over decades, not months.

Alamo Heights tip

This neighborhood works best as a dinner destination. Come for one strong restaurant, walk the residential streets after, and understand this is SA without the tourist layer.
