Multiple park units around the lake — Potters Creek, Cranes Mill, Canyon Park. Bring your own gear. Swimming areas marked.

Guadalupe River Below the DamLocal Favorite

The tailwater below Canyon Dam stays cold year-round — great swimming and easy tubing. Multiple access points on River Road.

Canyon Lake GorgeWillie Approved

A canyon carved in a matter of days by the 2002 flood. Guided tours on weekends reveal limestone formations and fossils exposed by the flood. One of the most unique geological sites in Texas. Book ahead.

Several outfitters rent equipment on and near the lake. Morning paddling before afternoon wind picks up is ideal.

Comal County Wineries (nearby)

Several small wineries in the Canyon Lake area — quieter and less crowded than the Hwy 290 trail near Fredericksburg. Good add-on.
