SAN ANTONIO · FEBRUARY

The San Antonio Rodeo, done right.

Two-plus weeks every February. Livestock show, rodeo competition, and a different major concert after every rodeo performance — one of the biggest events in Texas.

WHAT IT IS

Texas tradition at the AT&T Center.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo runs for about two weeks each February at the AT&T Center — the same arena as the Spurs. Every single night has a rodeo competition followed by a major concert. Country, rock, tejano, hip-hop — the lineup rotates across the run.

The livestock show is the other half — real working ranchers, champion cattle, agricultural competitions. It's Texas in a way the River Walk isn't.

FIRST-TIMER GUIDE

How the night works.

1

Arrive early for the livestock show

The barns open hours before the rodeo. Walk through the livestock exhibits — it's genuinely interesting and very Texas. Kids love it.

2

Rodeo starts in the evening

Bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, and more. Each event has a specific order. The crowd gets loudest for bull riding — save energy.

3

Concert immediately after

The arena reconfigures fast. The concert starts 20–30 minutes after the rodeo ends. Most people stay for both — you're already there.

4

Food inside is fair/rodeo style

Brisket, turkey legs, funnel cake, cold beer. Good enough for the night. Save the real dinner for before or after at a nearby restaurant.

FOR RESORT GUESTS

Getting there from the resorts.

The AT&T Center is on the east side of downtown — not walkable from River Walk hotels, and about 30–45 minutes from the JW, La Cantera, or Hyatt. Rodeo nights are busy; rideshare surges hard after the concert when 20,000 people request rides simultaneously.

TRANSFER TIP

Book a flat-rate round trip before you go. After the concert, every Uber in the lot is surging. Your driver will be waiting — same price you locked in at 4pm.

WHAT TO WEAR

February in San Antonio can be 45°F or 75°F — sometimes both in the same week. Layers. Boots are appropriate and you'll see plenty of cowboy hats. The arena is indoor and climate-controlled, but the livestock area is partly open-air.
