Yes. The tourist districts — River Walk, Pearl, downtown, Southtown — are safe and well-traveled. Like any city, some neighborhoods require awareness. Stick to the main corridors and you'll have no issues.

Do I need a car in San Antonio?

Downtown and River Walk visitors don't need one — everything is walkable or accessible by rideshare. A car makes sense if you're doing Hill Country day trips, the resort corridor, or the five missions in a day. The missions aren't walkable from downtown.

Allow 45–90 minutes. The mission church itself is 15 minutes. The Long Barrack Museum adds 30–45 min. The courtyard and grounds are walkable in under 15 min.
