The certification behind every pick

What Willie Approved actually means.

WILLIE APPROVEDVETTED IN PERSONWSAN ANTONIO · TXNEVER FOR SALE

Every guide site says “curated.” Here's the actual contract behind the word — five articles, written down so you can hold us to them.

The bar is taste.

Not popularity. Not decor. Not how it photographs. If the food and the room have taste, it qualifies — a $4 taco window and a $200 steakhouse are judged by the same standard.

Visited in person. Always.

Every sealed place, Willie has eaten at, drunk at, or driven guests to himself. One visit can earn the seal — if it's that good. No list-scraping, no reviews-of-reviews.

Instantly disqualified: bad food, poor service.

No exceptions for famous names or river views. The two fastest ways off this site are a bad plate and a server who treats visitors like a transaction.

The seal can be taken away.

It has been. A place slipped — the food stopped being honest — and it came off the site. A seal that can't be lost doesn't mean anything.

It is never for sale.

Businesses can buy clearly-labeled ad space on this site. What no one can buy — at any price — is this seal, a rating, or a ranking. The day that changes, burn the whole thing down.

The current seal-holders.
